The Prophetic Sunnah and the Prophetic Sunnah

These days, the slogans of “moderate Islam,” “moderation,” and “Islam is the solution” are being raised… but they remain vague and emotional slogans, whose proponents deliberately exploit religion and the Prophetic Sunnah, in particular, to serve their own purposes and goals. With this slogan, Islamist movements have advanced through the ballot box. This success places them before enormous responsibilities. They must realize that any failure befalling these movements will be viewed as a failure of Islam. Just as they attribute their success to Islam, their opponents will also attribute their failure to Islam.
The book, by Syrian researcher Muhammad Shahrour—a key authority in Quranic sciences, having pioneered a new, scientific approach to understanding it—presents a contemporary reading of the Prophetic and Prophetic Sunnah, an alternative to the traditional concept of it, which emphasizes following, example, model, and obedience. It details the three Muhammadan stations: the Messenger, the Prophet, and the human being.
