Description
A novel inspired by the biography of the pre-Islamic poet Tarafa ibn al-Abd al-Bakri, and the tragedy of his tormented soul, torn between his free will and the will of the community, which grants him only as much as it entertains him. Between death lying in wait for him at its appointed time, and death that comes to him of his own free will, he consumes himself in pleasures and taking risks. He is neither able to mold life to his own image, nor can he mold himself to the image of life and its people.
