Description

– Do you know? I was once a passerby too. A man whom the tribes called a sorcerer, as they were accustomed to doing with all passers-by who kept their secrets to themselves. I find no pleasure in settling in a land unless I leave it for another the very next day. I came to the oasis as a passerby, too, but the walls deceived me the day I decided to use some of my secrets to buy provisions. I forgot that provisions are the cunning trick by which the whispers of temptation lure passers-by, so they settle in the land that enslaves them. The role of the land doesn’t end until the role of the beautiful woman begins. I entered the land of the fields with the beautiful woman one day and was taken captive, and I haven’t returned from the land of the fields to this day.

– The fields?

– I found myself a hostage in the hands of the scarecrow ever since.

– The scarecrow?

– The scarecrow is our destiny. We reside in the scarecrow, and the scarecrow resides in us. We are the scarecrow, and the scarecrow is us.

– My master was speaking of journeys.

– But the scarecrow is the enemy of journeys.
