Description
Is the Jerusalem whose name is allegedly mentioned in the Torah the same city referred to in the Jewish holy book as “Jerusalem,” and do the two names together refer to the same place, as the contemporary Israeli narrative claims?
But did the Torah actually mention, in any of its supposed forms, the name “Al-Quds” (with the Arabic definite article)? And does the Torah’s description of it match the description of Jerusalem, such that we can equate the two places and consider them one and the same? What I want to raise in this theoretical argument is the following: the Torah never mentions the name Palestine or the Palestinians, and it never mentions “Al-Quds” in any way.
All that is said about the place mentioned in the Torah as “Qadesh-Quds” referring to the Arab city is contrary to historical fact and geographical description, and has no connection whatsoever to science. Furthermore, the Torah does not at all state that the Quds that the Israelites reached after their wanderings is Jerusalem.
For me, this commonplace assumption in historical and political literature worldwide has been questioned ever since I undertook, through years of painstaking work, the reconstruction of the biblical narrative of Palestinian history based on the Hebrew text. This process revealed astonishing truths obscured by the distorted Orientalist imagination of the past two centuries, through the false promotion of the myth of the Jewish Promised Land.
