The Empty Vessel Encounters with Nothingness

The language of the philosopher Osho is inimitable. Though his lectures were simple and concise, they were brimming with profound and boundless meaning. For this reason, our translation may not fully capture the musicality that permeated his words. However, this hasn’t prevented us from preserving the outer meanings and the surface of the idea, sometimes resulting in a loss of the profound spiritual depth that Osho expressed with so few words. This compels me to apologize to the reader for any failure to convey those profound ideas, so spiritually emanating from a heart filled with light. Osho spoke volumes in the depths of his silence, conveying much that cannot be articulated in words, just as his students did. How can words truly convey such a message that defies expression? What can we possibly say about this spiritual and mystical master? The message this master sought to convey transcended words, demanding that one relinquish one’s thinking and logic, becoming an inner emptiness. This allows one to shed the conditions one imposes on life, or that others impose upon it, and to transcend the waiting and wishing associated with the false ego. It makes the enlightenment the spiritual master attempts to impart something close and tangible. Osho, like all spiritual masters before him, aims to make us empty vessels capable of receiving that spiritual eternity, inexpressible in words, which they themselves experience.
