Description
Ivan Ilyich, a reformist general, was trying to instill his reformist ideas in his colleagues during a gathering at one of their homes, but they all deserted him.
On his way home, his gaze was drawn to some lights emanating from a simple cottage. He realized it was the wedding of one of his subordinates and saw this as an opportunity to spread his principles and practice his ideals. Enthusiasm led him to the venue—uninvited—and the unfortunate events that unfolded in the story followed. Misfortune plagued everyone that night, and the host, his guests, and the unexpected newcomer, Ivan Ilyich Bralinsky, found themselves embroiled in a predicament of embarrassment and misfortune.
