Description
In “Gate of the Sun,” Elias Khoury recounts a journey through rain, death, and mud; displacement, camps, and people clinging to life… dreaming of a homeland. But Nahila says there will be no homeland until we all die… And now Nahila is dead, and that sick man is dead, and Shams is dead. Three characters, with their philosophical and human dimensions, encircle the events, shrouding them in a profound silence, the meaning of which is only conveyed by tears and the rain.
