Description
Piccini is an epic of profound psychological horror, philosophical, dark, frightening, mad, and bleak. The word “Piccini” is an old Italian word that referred to an unknown group tasked with collecting the bodies of the dead from the roadsides when the plague, or Black Death, spread during World War II. Our protagonist calls himself a Piccini because his favorite pastime is collecting the bodies of the dead in his home, embalming them, and caring for them. Shadow sees himself as the superhero of the dead and believes it’s unjust to leave the dead buried underground in graves. Shadow dreams of collecting as many bodies as possible, yet he doesn’t kill; he’s not a monster. Shadow’s dark journey of collecting bodies from everywhere—graves, streets, morgues, and refrigerators—takes a turn when he buys a body from an unknown location. When the body arrives, he’s shocked to find it has no features! And so, Shadow’s life begins to unravel completely, as he lives his worst nightmares, caught between his terrifying past, his disturbing childhood, and his uncertain future.
What is the secret of this corpse? To whom does it belong? And into what abyss of hell will it drag our protagonist, Shadow?
