The Challenges of the Year 2000

Description

This was the topic of a meeting held in Moscow and Paris in late June, bringing together a group of thinkers in their personal capacities, independent of any national or country representation. I convened this meeting and delivered a speech in which I stated: “The challenges facing humanity in the year 2000 are so immense and complex that I find myself unqualified to address them with expertise and detail. Therefore, I will limit myself to a brief overview of one of the problems that concerns everyone today.”
