Description
This is the first part of a trilogy by Gilbert Sinoué, dedicated to the history of Morocco before the French-Spanish occupation. It focuses on Sultan Moulay Ismail and the challenges of his rule during a time of escalating internal unrest and European and Ottoman encroachment on the country’s sovereignty.
In this precarious situation, the Sultan attempts the impossible, succeeding in suppressing tribal uprisings and rebellions by those close to him, and in neutralizing the major European empires.
