Description
Two years ago, when a friend asked me to write his story, I hesitated at first and suggested I help him, but he said he could never do it alone. I listened to him for hours, accompanied him on his therapy sessions, and discovered a fascinating world, rich with material worthy of being written about. I soon found myself in a delicate position: should I narrate, write, and reveal everything, as my friend asked? After some thought, I chose not to leave anything out, to share his thoughts, and to put myself in his shoes. *** “I am neither a gambler nor a gambler, and I rarely take risks; this is how I was made, and I claim no great feat. I dislike the legend of the Sword of Damocles and excessive speed, and I believe I have other pleasures in life besides those provided by physical love… I say this to myself and lie to myself a little, for I am compelled to convince myself that I made the right choice: to live, yes, but without illness… the malignant disease.”
