Description
Why is it recommended to read the novel #Heads_of_Devils?
For at least ten reasons:
– A short, rich read; it’s only 199 pages long, making it Ayman Al-Atoum’s shortest novel.
– Intense scenes, fast-paced transitions, and deeply emotionally impactful.
– It tells the story of a brilliant doctor plagued by a number of illnesses, some of which most of us experience. You might even find yourself saying, as you read: This character is talking about me, this is me.
– It makes you wonder: Is what the protagonist is suffering from an illness? I’ve been through exactly what he’s going through, and I didn’t even know it!
– Realistic in its approach and presentation; it seeks the root cause of the problem more than it offers a solution.
– It raises a number of existential questions and morbid human anxieties about life, death, success, and failure, attempting to understand the contradictions of the human psyche.
– It tries to answer the question: Does a mentally ill person know they are ill?
– It’s different from all of Ayman Al-Atoum’s previous novels; Following prison literature, war literature, and historical epics, this novel falls under the category of psychological novels.
– It relies on the protagonist’s introspective search for a solution to his problem, while being fully aware of all aspects of that problem or predicament.
– It is based on the idea: the solution is here, but I looked for it there!
– The protagonist’s experiences and his engagement with religions, ideas, and beliefs are both part of the solution and the problem; this is the height of paradox in the protagonist’s behavior.
As for the language, narrative, and description, despite all this apparent contradiction, they are the language, narrative, and description of Ayman Al-Atoum!
