Description
Ivan Andreyevich is convinced his wife is cheating on him. He’s ready to do anything to catch her: he stalks and watches her for hours, spies on her, opens her mail for evidence, hides, and makes a fool of himself… Despite its humor, “Another Man’s Wife and a Husband Under the Bed” is a significant milestone in Dostoevsky’s career, revealing his unique sense of humor, which permeates even his most tragic works.
This is followed by “A Novel in Nine Letters,” a masterpiece of epistolary literature. Two friends, Pyotr Ivanovich and Ivan Petrovich, exchange letters that gradually reveal the nature of their relationship. Their correspondence begins with polite and friendly language, which gradually cools, culminating in petty actions, base statements, and mutual accusations of infidelity.
The two friends then exchange letters, revealing their relationship. Dostoevsky wrote these two stories in his youth, before his arrest and imprisonment in a Siberian labor camp in 1849. They undoubtedly paved the way for the brilliant future work of this great novelist and unparalleled expert on the human psyche.
