The Arab Network for Research and Publishing (ANRP) today releases the Liquidity Series, which includes the eight translated works of the Polish sociologist Zygmunt Bauman (1925-2017), previously published in successive years. The series is divided into two volumes. The first includes the following titles: Liquid Modernity, Liquid Life, Liquid Love, and Liquid Culture, while the second includes Liquidity, Liquid Fear, Liquid Surveillance, and Liquid Evil.
Bauman begins by attempting to understand a changing era and how contemporary societies have transitioned from solid modernity to liquid modernity. He argues that consumption has become a consumption of emotions, human relationships, and communication technologies. This, in turn, has affected the meanings of life, love, and culture, transforming society into a mere human community, ambiguous in its relationships and fragmented in its structure. We have become constantly monitored due to our consumption of modern technology and its impact on self-awareness. This has led to a fluidity of fear of the future and of achieving social security in an era whose geographical, cultural, and economic divisions are no longer meaningful. This has produced evil in Human Conscience… How did Bauman view all of this in these two volumes, and how did he address it?
