Description
Although Christian churches do not recognize the Gospel of Barnabas, it is the most controversial and divisive book since its existence. Opinions on it are divided, with some rejecting it entirely and others considering it absolute truth. Undoubtedly, behind this lies what those who reject it see as undermining the Christian creed, while those who support it see it as confirming the Islamic perspective. So, where does the Gospel of Barnabas stand in all of this? Barnabas stated his motives for writing his gospel, claiming he wanted to correct serious errors that had crept into the faith and that it was written at the request of Jesus Christ. However, the matter becomes more complicated when we learn that the historical Barnabas, the apostle and missionary, did not meet Christ but followed the apostles. Therefore, he is entirely different from the Barnabas of the Gospels, the disciple close to Christ. This discrepancy justifies the question: Is he truly the author of the gospel? Or was it Mustafa al-Arandi, the Spanish Jew? Examining the manuscripts of the Gospel will reveal its authenticity and, more importantly, allow for a critical analysis of its texts and sources, examining their points of convergence or divergence with the Torah and the canonical Gospels, and subsequently with the Quran. Following this analysis, we can answer the question posed by this book: Is it truly in the best interest of Muslims to adopt the Gospel of Barnabas?
