Bashar ibn Burd grew up in a purely Arab environment and began writing poetry at an early age. However, his poetic talent exploded with satire and denunciation, causing people to fear his tongue. He was one of the veteran poets who lived during the Umayyad and Abbasid dynasties. He was famous in both eras, praising and satirizing them, and winning awards. This collection contains the entirety of Bashar ibn Burd’s poetry. This edition includes an explanation of the words in the margins by Professor Mahdi Muhammad Nasir al-Din.
