Following her book “The Body is a Suitcase,” which focused on travels in Western European and Arab cities, Ghada al-Samman takes us eastward to visit Banoch, Manila, Singapore, Hong Kong, and others. Then, we journey westward to New York, Washington, Los Angeles, Hollywood, Las Vegas, Orlando, Miami, and other cities in the United States. She attempts to explore the spiritual landscapes of the people in the countries she visits, the geography of their hearts, and their psychological and spiritual climates. For her, travel is a silent dialogue with other civilizations.
