Description
In these pages, the author presents what we have been thinking and writing about for half a century on various topics that have preoccupied our society and continue to do so, such as religion, science, literature, art, women, governance, and so on. These constitute the structure of Arab culture, its language, and its heritage. This allows the reader to gain a glimpse into our thinking since the Enlightenment era. Has it progressed or regressed? Or has it remained stagnant for half a century, with our society still as it was, with its problems and ideas? I believe it is my duty at this later stage of my life to reflect on these fifty years of our existence and to share this perspective with my reader. The only way I can do this is by presenting examples that embody this thinking on these diverse topics.
