Description
Al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib was sitting at the door of the Kaaba, accompanied by Yazid ibn Qa’nab and a group from the Banu Abd al-Uzza and Banu Hashim clans, who were responsible for its custodianship and service. They were preparing to close its doors as the sun approached sunset, after a day of receiving visitors.
Al-Abbas was responsible for providing water and food to the pilgrims, as part of the duties of the custodianship of the Kaaba, which was managed in cooperation with the Banu Abd al-Dar clan, who were responsible for cleaning it.
Its covering, opening and closing its doors, and receiving those arriving there were also duties. His great-grandfather, Qusay ibn Kilab, had established these noble duties and laid down their traditions.
