“From a psychoanalytic perspective, Dimitrio is considered a schizophrenic personality. Schizophrenia is a neurosis caused by anxiety, which leads to multiple forms of a single personality, with more than one personality conflicting within the same personality. This was the psychological characteristic that characterized Dimitrio’s behavior, as he was torn between two personalities: one familiar, with a rational, critical discourse, and the other, independent, with an emotional discourse. Although psychoanalysis holds that the dominant familiar personality has no information or awareness of the existence of other independent personalities and their systems (see: …… p. (382)), Dimitrio’s personality is aware of the existence of this personality, which shares its anxiety. This construction of Dimitrio’s personality appears to be a narrative device that seeks to reveal the emotional nature of Dimitrio’s familiar personality. However, the primary purpose of the schizophrenia in Dimitrio’s personality is a symbolic attempt to escape from reality, which is fortified by a strict logic regarding human desires, or a symbolic attempt to escape from the dire effects of anxiety itself. On this basis, we can note that Dimitrio’s personality is the The central character in the novel is constantly at odds with himself.
