Description
Between magical legend and the lightly recorded facts of Lebanese folklore, the characters of the “Mzawqiya” family live in the northern highlands, where these Maronites take refuge from their many enemies, and where wars have raged for a century.
Mzawq, the father, dies of cold on the snowy peaks of Dahr al-Jard, and his son, Tannous, carries on the story, followed by his sister, Salma. Between the monasteries of the Holy Valley and the captivating tales of local heroism, love of home is intertwined with the absence of a true homeland.
In the Kingdom of This Land, we read of the simple joys and hardships of these people, their happy moments and their many illusions, and of stories of fates that lead to sorrow.
