Description
This encyclopedia occupies a middle ground between dictionaries published in a single volume (some of which have been translated into Arabic) and comprehensive encyclopedias that cover almost everything, such as the Encyclopedia of Religions published by Drama Camillan in 1987 in sixteen massive volumes. Therefore, our encyclopedia can be described as concise, as it focuses only on the most significant milestones in the history of religions. However, conciseness here does not imply brevity, but rather brevity, because each milestone is given ample attention commensurate with its importance.
The editor of the encyclopedia, a renowned specialist in the history of religions, compiled his material from a diverse range of international encyclopedic and specialized sources. In selecting each entry, he adhered to the criteria of scholarly rigor, clarity of expression, and effective communication, as the encyclopedia is intended for the widest possible readership. With multiple contributors, the editor also ensured a diverse pool of translators, entrusting each with material according to their inclinations, background, and temperament, and offering them guidance and support. He hoped the encyclopedia would be the fruit of collaboration among a group of distinguished researchers and skilled translators, fulfilling its intended role in contemporary Arab culture.
