Description
One of the paradoxes of our modern history, which is difficult to count, is that this East, in which religion was born, did not, in its modern history, give birth to criticism of religion; because the rising classes that dared to criticize religion in the modern history of Europe were not exempted by our modern history except as aborted classes that fear criticism and revolution more than the clergy and statesmen themselves fear them.
