Description
Perhaps the most striking aspect of “Love in the Time of Cholera” is the sense of bewilderment that engulfs us from beginning to end. The same wonder we experienced with “One Hundred Years of Solitude,” due to its sheer brilliance, is present in this novel, though it stems from a different source. Here, everything is possible; everything becomes possible, and after witnessing the events, it becomes clear that they could not have happened any other way.
The central theme of this novel is that it is a “love story,” and the author writes of it: “This love exists in every time and place, but it intensifies as it approaches death.”
