Description
The Kalima Project at the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage has published a translation of Robert Greene’s book, “33 Strategies of War.” As stated in its introduction, this book “is a distillation of timeless wisdom contained within the lessons and principles of war. It is designed to equip you with practical knowledge that will give you countless options and advantages in dealing with the invisible warriors who attack you in the everyday battle of life.”
This book, recently published in Arabic by the Kalima Project for readers in the Arab world, presents each chapter as a strategy aimed at solving a specific problem that anyone might face. Such problems include fighting an army behind you that lacks motivation, wasting energy fighting on multiple fronts simultaneously, feeling the dread of confrontation, the discrepancy between plans and reality, and getting into situations from which there is no escape. It is best to read all the strategies, absorb them, and allow them to become part of your mental arsenal. Even when trying to avoid a war, many of these strategies are worth studying for defensive purposes and to raise awareness of the other side’s intentions.
This book has garnered praise from leading journalists for its political and strategic value.
Dr. Ali bin Tamim, Director of the Kalima Translation Project, stated, “Focusing on translating the most important historical, fictional, and poetic works aligns with the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage’s strategy of presenting diverse cultures within a framework of richness and difference. It also underscores the Kalima Project’s objectives of opening new channels for the Arab reader and revitalizing the translation movement from foreign languages into Arab culture.”
The book was translated into Arabic by Samer Abu Hawash, a Palestinian translator and writer with a degree in Media from the Lebanese University. He has translated numerous literary works, including novels and short stories.
The book’s author, Robert Greene, was born in Los Angeles in 1945. An American writer renowned for his books on strategy and power, he graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he earned a degree in Classics.
