Bassem Khandakji (born 1983) is a Palestinian writer and former prisoner. He studied journalism and media at An-Najah National University. He was arrested by Israeli occupation forces on November 2, 2004, and sentenced to life imprisonment. He has written several novels and poetry collections while imprisoned by the occupation, the latest being “Badr al-Din’s Eclipse,” published in December 2018. Some of his works have been translated into French, and he won the International Prize for Arabic Fiction (the Booker Prize) in 2024 for his novel “A Mask the Color of the Sky.”
