Description
The Beginning and the End in History is a historical encyclopedia written by Ibn Kathir Ismail ibn Umar al-Dimashqi (d. 774 AH). The encyclopedia is based on Islamic beliefs. It presents history from the beginning of creation to its end, beginning with the creation of the heavens, the earth, and the angels, up to the creation of Adam. It then briefly touches on the stories of the prophets, then details historical events from the mission of the Prophet Muhammad until the year 767 AH, organized by year. The year begins with the phrase, “Then a year entered…” and then lists the historical events, noting the most prominent figures who died during that year.
