The Proof

Description

When Lucas returned to his grandmother’s house, he lay down near the garden fence in the shade of the bushes and waited. An army vehicle pulled up in front of the border guard post. Some soldiers got out and laid a body wrapped in a military camouflage blanket on the ground. A sergeant came out of the building and signaled to the soldiers to remove the blanket. Lieutenant Zafer said,

“It won’t be easy to identify him! You’d have to be a fool to try to cross this filthy border, let alone in broad daylight!”
