Description

This book comprises several articles addressing a diverse range of events and phenomena related to Judaism and Zionism, and to the course of the Arab-Zionist conflict.

These articles are independent of one another, yet they can be categorized, as far as possible, within the framework of their underlying themes. For example, the early chapters address topics related to certain aspects of Zionist colonialism. Chapter One is titled “Jewish Demography,” Chapter Two “Immigration and Displacement,” and Chapter Three “The Roots of Zionist Settler Colonialism.” Chapter Four, “The Conflict of Terms and Concepts,” shifts to the issue of Zionist terminology, exploring how it expresses Zionist concepts and the need for caution regarding its use. This chapter presents a complex analytical discourse capable of explaining many aspects of the Zionist phenomenon without oversimplifying it. Chapter Five, “Zionist Media,” is closely related to the topic of Zionist terminology and analytical discourse. It attempts to analyze some of the recurring metaphors in Zionist discourse and to highlight some new trends in Zionist media. The following chapters (Chapter Six: The Myth of Jewish Nationalism, Chapter Seven: “The Myth of Jewish Identity,” Chapter Eight: “The Myth of the Jewish Personality,” and Chapter Nine: “The Cultures of Jewish Communities”) address the concept of Jewish unity, a central concept in Zionist ideology. These chapters attempt to demonstrate, through specific examples and numerous pieces of evidence, that there is no homogeneity between Members of Jewish communities argue that talk of Jewish unity is a myth invented by both Zionists and those hostile to Jews and Judaism to legitimize the Zionist project.
