Description

The author imagines that he has been sent by his country to attend a peace conference following World War II. He is accompanied by delegates from other nations, all chosen for their shared belief in equality and fraternity among nations. His country gives him a briefcase containing its demands, which he forgets at the airport. He finds himself embroiled in the conference, presenting his country’s issues, none of which he remembers. To his surprise, he is chosen to speak on behalf of his country, and he begins to articulate those demands desired by the entire world: the Four Freedoms, the cornerstones of the new world order—freedom of speech, freedom of worship, freedom from poverty, and freedom from oppression and slavery.
