Description

This novel blends benefit and enjoyment, and it sheds light on the fundamentals of our lives. He will turn the pages of the past, and what a past it was, the day he entered the wrong race track… What examples will he set for his children, or will he teach them from his own mistakes and errors…?

(Get up, boy, the bus is waiting. Neither religion nor worldly matters!) These are Abu Saeed’s words to his fourth son, Samir, who was still a child and only added to his father’s burdens. They grew up in an Islamic environment that revered God, so each of the boys followed the right path and entered the right track despite their differing inclinations. Samir (a typical example of the youth of our time) is scattered in thought and morals, lacking any purpose in this world. His father always emphasized prayer (the pillar of religion): “Where is your prayer? Where is your provision for the Hereafter? Where is your study? What have you prepared for your future?” From advice and guidance to reprimands and rebukes… until he saw his father resting in the earth… Despite being deeply affected by his father, he became devout in his prayers, but then strayed from them… He soon compared himself to his brothers and their successes, so he entered the world of buying and selling used cars, adopting the motto “The wolf doesn’t die, and the sheep don’t perish”… Alaa was his first victim, leaving him with three words: “May God take revenge on you”… on the day he met the man who became his boss and who would write chapters in our hero’s life… the first of which was the death of his loving mother, separated from him by a wall… and what a wall it was… When he received his share of the inheritance, he moved to a new, separate residence to work in the car dealership, until his eyes fell upon his boss’s daughter, whom he married… The environment of the teacher, Azzam, was conducive to reviving the worst human traits, such as envy, arrogance, and unfair competition… (his own evil inclinations and the devilish influence of the jinn conspired against him). The marriage of Samir and Hanan culminated in two sons, as their grandfather wished, for the sake of promotion and publicity (the intention). (His charitable works were hidden)

As the years passed, Samir realized that his generosity wasn’t for his own good, but rather to fulfill his father-in-law’s demands and never turn him away. This affected his family ties, and his children were the victims. After eleven years, a dewy rose bloomed in the desert of his life—that was Inas, and that was her place in her father’s heart—the beating heart of the family. For health reasons, Inas became a frequent guest at her uncle Amjad’s house and stayed close to Fatima, where she found a healthy environment that comforted her and nurtured her Islamic nature. Samir reaped the consequences of neglecting his son Ashraf’s upbringing; Ashraf was imprisoned, bringing shame upon his father, and his other son, Sadiq, suffered from personal problems. The father’s primary concern was his public image. The family needed spiritual revival and psychological support, and Inas, despite her young age, took on this role, drawing strength from her sound nature, which refused to succumb to the whispers of Satan, and reinforced by the teachings of her uncle’s family. However, due to the conflict between these principles and her mother’s formalities and etiquette, the young girl was transferred to another school for fear that she would be influenced by Islamic values. As the saying goes, “what goes around comes around,” and Samir reached a point where he was tormented by his blessings. Dissatisfied with his situation, he consulted his younger brother, suppressing his pride and arrogance, in an attempt to break free from the constraints imposed upon him. A society that worships materialism and the devil… Inas, to whom he told the truth, wanted to shed the veil from the pollution she lived in and soar to the heavens. Despite the symptoms she experienced, she persisted… That girl passed away, having fulfilled her role, and she had touched many hearts… And all that is required of humanity is not to despair of God’s mercy and to turn to Him.

Professor Iyad Qunaibi has excelled in his masterpiece, with its smooth and eloquent language and its comprehensive treatment of the ills of our time… O God, guide us to the straight path.
