Description
The book “The Truth Is White: Memoirs of Taher al-Masri – A Life We Lived and Now Recount” is a two-volume, comprehensive work published in 2021 by the Arab Institute for Research and Publishing. It chronicles the career of Taher al-Masri, a Jordanian politician of Palestinian origin who held prominent positions, including Prime Minister, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and President of the Senate. The book provides a detailed account of al-Masri’s political and social experiences, reflecting the evolution of Jordan and its political transformations through a personal lens.
The memoirs begin with al-Masri’s childhood in Nablus, trace his life in Jordan, and cover his involvement in political decision-making, offering insights into the reigns of King Hussein and King Abdullah II. The book also addresses significant political milestones—such as the decision to sever legal and administrative ties with the West Bank and the Madrid Peace Conference—and details his administration, which steered the democratic transition in 1989.
